General Advertisement Instructions

- HTML:
<HTML>, <HEAD>, <BODY>, <br>, or <p>, hard breaks (carriage returns), and alignment tags are not permitted. All white spaces must be eliminated. Use only CLOSE FORM tags when using forms in .html (i.e. </form>)
- FLASH:
Must have wmode=transparent, or ad creative will show underneath dropdown navigations and/or interfere with page level DHTML. Advertiser should provide both .swf and .jpg versions of creative. U4H, Inc. can implement a plug-in sniffer script allowing users without Flash plug-in to be served the advertiser provided .jpg alternative.
- JAVASCRIPT:
Javascript is not supported by U4H, Inc.’s advertising and marketing division. If submitting creative exported as Flash versions using Action Script, advertiser must submit a list of compatible plug-ins and test results when submitting creative.
- ANIMATIONS:
- Create the animation in its own movie clip called "content_mc" or "animation_mc
- Make sure there is no actionscript that says "_root"
- The main timeline should be 2 layers, each with 2 frames. The top layer is "actions" and the bottom layer is the content.
- In the first frame of the actions layer the actionscript should be: stop(); stopAllSounds();
In the second frame of the actions layer the actionscript should be: stop();
- The first frame of the content layer should be blank and the second frame has "content_mc" which is placed on the stage
- Frame Rate: For Flash creative to appear as intended it must be authored at the following frame rate: 30 FPS
- Action Script: When authoring any interactivity, animations or sequencing in the hosted Flash creative, the following script practices become unreliable and are therefore prohibited:
- _root calls
- _global functions and variables
- _prototypes
- _level references
- Data, Information and Assets:
All data, information or creative assets must exist within the "library" of the hosted Flash creative file. The hosted file cannot make any independent data or media requests to third-party servers to retrieve assets for display. (Note: This may change upon subsequent upgrades to U4H, Inc.’s Media Rich and Vivid Ad Host environments.)
- Interactivity:
Background Host Button: The host file supplies a background button by default. This button is the size of the available moused-over advertisement space and provides click through functionality to the advertiser's URL (via Double-Click). As a result, a serviceable Flash creative deliverable is NOT REQUIRED to contain buttons.
- Linking:
In the same way the Flash creative file/video content cannot receive assets from a third party, the Flash file cannot independently link to any third party URL. The ONLY link away from U4H, Inc. (pop up screens included) is through the single Double-Click URL. The ONLY way to initiate access to the Double-Click URL is through a button event and NEVER through a frame action event. In other words, the user must proactively access the Double-Click URL. The Flash creative can never auto-generate this URL as a result of its own internal functioning.
- Font and Design
Fonts must be embedded into the library of the hosted file. When fonts are NOT embedded, the observed result is often the disappearance of the font (of the text/copy) in the hosted Flash creative environment. Client must deliver any fonts used in ad creative in flash format in the event that U4H, Inc. will have to make adjustments in order to achieve a more legible/desirable effect.
- Video
If the Client wishes to include video in the interactive space (i.e. Vivid Advertisement), it should be loaded from an external FLV source for best results. Ideally, the client should provide video in high-resolution digitized formats (i.e. AVI uncompressed/stereo uncompressed audio) for Unity 4 Humanity, Inc. to encode as FLV. Alternatively, if the Client has video in FLV that is already being used elsewhere on the web, that video may be submitted to U4H, Inc. Frame rate of FLV is not necessarily important, but U4H, Inc. recommends 29.97fps key-frame every 8 frames. Any video content for advertisements must be supplied and not run off of third party source/servers. U4H, Inc. suggests audio at 196kps, sampled at 48kHz stereo with no compression.
**All advertisements whether static, media-rich, or vivid must be submitted 7 business days PRIOR TO the expected launch deadline. U4H, Inc. works hard to ensure that all advertisements are displayed in an efficient, favorable, non/invasive, and entertaining light. U4H, Inc. reserves the right to refuse any rich media advertising, and reserves the right to modify advertisements that do not conform to guidelines or do not translate well in available advertisement space. Any advertisements/modifications will be viewable in a “pre-launch” format, and this is to ensure the customers overall satisfaction.
